 Visitor #54991
Welcome

The Village of Fruitvale, located in southern British Columbia’s beautiful West Kootenays, is the "Heart of the Beaver Valley Where Community Spirit Is Our Lifestyle".

Fruitvale is the hometown of 2003 NHL Rookie of the Year Barrett Jackman, 1996 NHL Stanley Cup winner Adam Deadmarsh and World Cup Skier Diana (Dee Dee) Haight. As a "sports minded" community, Fruitvale is also home to the Junior B Cyclone Taylor Cup winning Beaver Valley Nite Hawks Hockey Club, Beaver Valley Little League, Beaver Valley Youth Soccer, Beaver Valley Cross Country Ski Club, Snowmobile Club, Champion Lakes Golf & Country Club, as well as the Champion Lakes Provincial Park and Campground and the Beaver Valley Family Park Campground.

Fruitvale is a clean air community with spectacular natural scenery, unique shopping and friendly people. If rural living at it’s best is what you are looking for, you'll find it here in FRUITVALE!

CHRISTMAS TREE REMOVAL
Drop off your used Christmas tree

The Village of Fruitvale will once again be taking Christmas trees to the landfill site free of charge after the Christmas season.

Please bring your tree to the designated area (look for the sign) in the Pole Yard before January 15, 2012. There will be no curb-side tree collection. Please be sure to remove all your decorations and plastic tree bag.

If you prefer to dispose of your tree yourself, the McKelvey Creek Landfill site accepts trees for composting.

UNPLUGGED
Small Appliance Recycling Program

Did you know more than 2,000,000 small appliances end up in B.C. landfills every year? If you stacked this many microwaves together, you could circle the distance of the Stanley Park Seawall approximately 69 times!

Unplugged, the Small Appliance Recycling Program gives British Columbians a new and convenient recycling option for these products.

Starting October 1st, recycle your old and broken small appliances at one of over 100 Unplugged recycling drop-off locations across the province and help reduce pollution, save energy, and protect our environment.

Unplugged is the first small appliance recycling program of its kind in Canada and the only government-approved small appliance recycling program in B.C. It accepts more than 120 small appliances, ranging in size from toasters and electric toothbrushes to countertop microwaves and vacuum cleaners.

Unplugged is a non-profit program funded by a recycling fee applied to new small appliances brought into B.C. by manufacturers and retailers. The recycling fee covers all program costs, including collection, transportation and recycling, and may be included in a product’s price or displayed as a separate charge at check-out.

Visit the Unplugged website for more information on the program.
